Competition Rules - Ladies

RULES GOVERNING LADIES' COMPETITIONS

STROKEPLAY COMPETITIONS

Please ensure that:
a. you have booked in online prior to start of play
b. you have paid the Competition Entry Fee
c. Scorecards show name of player, competition name and date
d. all cards must be signed by player and marker otherwise the player will be disqualified
e. on completion of round, score is entered in computer and card put in competition box - this includes No Returns.

MATCHPLAY COMPETITIONS

The rules regarding the offering of dates are as per Club Rules (KJVI website, Members, Competition Rules (Gents), Direct Entry Competitions) i.e. the challenger (topmost name(s) in each tie) must offer 3 dates over at least 2 weeks and including one weekend.  The ties must be played by the date shown on the draw sheet for each round.



1. Matchplay Competitions

Players must have a current CONGU handicap to enter these competitions.  A sign-up sheet will be in the Ladies Locker Room at the start of the season.  Entry Fee must be paid before entry closing date as advertised (usually mid April).

Gray Trophy - this is a singles matchplay knockout competition.  Handicap Allowance is the full difference.  In the event of a tie, the match will be resolved by the result of 3 extra holes, then another 3, and so on until a result is achieved.  Strokes to be taken as they arise.

McGlashan Hoad Trophy - this is a pairs 2-ball matchplay knockout competition (foursomes - alternate strokes).  A draw is made for partners.  Handicap Allowance is ½ difference of combined handicaps.  In the event of a tie, sudden death must be played and strokes taken as they arise.  The winners qualify to play in the following year's Daily Mail Foursomes national event.  If one partner is not available, the other may choose someone else. If neither winners able to attend, the runners-up will be given the option of playing.


2. Captain v Vice Captain - Opening Day

4 Ball Better Ball Match Play.  The Captain and Vice Captain draw their teams at the Get Together Evening.  Handicap Allowance - back marker to concede strokes to the other 3 players based on 90% of the difference between the full handicaps.

3. First Fling/Final Fling

Fun game - format changes each year.  First Fling played on the Saturday a week before Opening Day.  Final Fling played on a Saturday as last game of summer season prior to AGM/Prizegiving.

4.  SGL Medals (Scottish Golf Ltd)

A Medal and an Extra Medal are played each month from April to September.  The main Medal Day is Tuesday and the Alternative Day is the previous Sunday.  Players must book in via the Club's Online Booking System and a draw for playing groups will be done on the day.  If the Medal is also a Club Championship Qualifier, the draw will be done in Sections i.e. Silver players will play together followed by Bronze players.

Ringer Competition - run in conjunction with the Medals is the Ringer Competition where you can ring a maximum of 3 holes per Medal.  Your first full card in a SGL Medal is put up on the Ringer Sheet in pencil. When you get a better score on a hole, ring the score on your card and ask marker to ring and initial on Ringer Sheet in pen. A HOLE CAN ONLY BE CHANGED ONCE.  To calculate the winner, total score for 18 holes less 5/8th's of end of season handicap.

Medal Winners Final

Open to all SGL Medal and Extra Medal Winners.  Best Silver and Bronze winners.

Silver/Bronze Medals

Awarded for lowest aggregate of 4 Net Scores in Medals and Extra Medals.  Best Silver and Bronze Net Scores.  Winners qualify to play in SGL Medal Winners Finals in following year.



5. Club Championships

Club Championship (Scratch)

Top 4 ladies qualify from the best 2 Scratch Scores from the 4 Club Championship Qualifying Medals held during the first 2-3 months of the season.  Match Play ties will then be played by dates decided by Committee with the Final being played in August.  In the event of a tie, the matches are decided by 'sudden death'

Handicap Club Championship

Top 8 ladies qualify from the best 2 Net Scores from the 4 Club Championship Qualifying Medals held during the first 2-3 months of the season.  Match Play ties will then be played by dates decided by Committee with the Final being played in August.  In the event of a tie, the matches are decided by 'sudden death'.

Ladies can qualify for both Scratch and Handicap Championships.  In the event of a lady winning through to both Finals, the Scratch takes precedence and the Scratch Final will be played on the agreed date.  The finalists in the Handicap Championship will agree a mutually convenient alternative date for their Final.

If for any reason, any of the Qualifying Medals cannot take place, the top 4 or 8 for each Championship will be decided by the best single Scratch or Net Score.

6. Handicap Stroke Competitions (full handicap allowance)

a. Captain's Prize
b. Dewar Trophy 
c. Guiness Trophy - stableford competition
d. LM Fyfe - this is a Par competition with full handicap allowance.  Competitors play matchplay against the par of the course.
e. Patterson Hamilton Smith Bogey - this is a Par competition with full handicap allowance.  Competitors play matchplay against the par of the course.
f. Wilson Trophy


7. Scratch Competitions

a. Ainslie Forbes Scratch Medal - prizes: scratch winner, scratch runner-up & Best Net (3 different winners)
b. Hay Robertson Scratch Medal -  prizes: scratch winner, scratch runner-up & Best Net (3 different winners)
c. Knight McKay Trophy - best scratch score by lady with handicap of 18 and above.

8. Non-Counting Competitions

a. 4 Club Competition - only allowed to use 4 clubs. Handicap Stroke competition.
b. Past Captains' Trophy - Stableford Competition only open to Past Lady Captains.


9. Pairs Competitions

a. Coronation Foursomes - choose own partners, 2 ball stableford competition with winners going forward to National Area Qualifier organised by SGL. Half combined handicap.
b. Jubilee Greensomes - 2 ball competition, draw is made for partners, both ladies drive then choose preferred ball and then take alternate shots
c. Mrs D Lawson Memorial Trophy - choose your own partner, half combined handicap, 2 ball stroke competition
d. Morgan Shield - 4 Ball Betterball Stableford, a draw is made for partners, Handicap Allowance - back marker to concede strokes to the other 3 players based on 90% of the difference between the full handicaps, best net ball counts.

10. Cumulative Trophies

a. Birdie Tree - winner is lady who has scored most birdies across all competitions as recorded on HandicapMaster
b. Centenary Trophy - Awarded for the highest points score over the following Stroke Play Competititons: LM Fyfe Bogey, 4 Club, Guiness, Patterson Hamilton Smith, Wilson, Dewar & Captain's Prize.  Points awarded - 5 for 1st, 4 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 2 for 4th and 1 for 5th place.
c. Par Tree - winner is lady in Bronze category who has scored most pars across all competitions as recorded on HandicapMaster.
d. Team Challenge - run in conjunction with Tues competitions (including alternate day Sun  competitions where applicable).  Teams of 3 are drawn.  Points are awarded 5 - 1st, 4 - 2nd, 3 - 3rd, 2 - 4th and 1 - 5th.
e. Eileen Williams Trophy - awarded to the lady 60 years or over with the best aggregate of 2 net scores in the Club Championship Qualifying Rounds.

11. Other Competitions:

a. Friday Stableford Eclectic - fun competition on designated Friday's where stableford points are awarded and recorded on the sheet.
b. Mr & Mrs - a mixed 2 ball competition for married couples, one partner must be a member of KJVI. Half combined handicap. Maximum Ladies handicap 36.
c. Summer League - an eclectic competition which can be played on any day.  Scratch & Handicap prizes awarded.
d. Tuesday & Sunday Competitions - separate competitions open to all players.

12. Handicap League Matches

These matches are played as 5 single matchplay games against other clubs in the P&K area that are part of the Handicap League.  At the moment, there are 2 leagues of 5 teams and we play 2 home and 2 away matches.  A sheet is put up at the beginning of the season where you can indicate if you wish to play in these games.  See noticeboard for current Handicap League Rules.

13. Friendly Matches

We currently have 4 friendly matches v Alyth, Perth Ladies, Craigiehill (Craigisle Trophy) and Strathmore.  Matches are played annually at alternate clubs. The home team chooses the format for each match with friendliness being the key.

14. Daily Mail Foursomes
The winners of the McGlashan Hoad competition qualify to play in the following year's Daily Mail Foursomes national event.  If one partner is not available, the other may choose someone else. If neither winners are able to attend, the runners-up will be given the option of playing.
