Christmas Golf & Meal

9 hardy souls braved the bitter cold day on Sunday and completed 12 holes in various forms of Xmas-themed attire!  We played 'Plant the Flag' , although that turned out to be quite difficult in the brick-hard conditions, and Donna rose to the occasion and was a worthy winner by completing the round and still having 3 shots of her handicap left. Fortunately or unfortunately that also meant she got her handicap cut by 3 ! Hard luck Dot, always the bridesmaid.....

I think we were all glad to get into the clubhouse (some of us taking a bit longer than others!) and enjoyed a lovely meal from Paul & Mike...and a few drinks !

A few photos from the day...

Congratulations to Agnes & Pam

Our Scratch and Handicap Club Championships were both played on Sunday with Agnes Manattini winning the Scratch on the 18th against Lesley Findlay  and Pam Ewen winning the Handicap on the 19th against Fiona Farquharson.  Both games were nip & tuck.  Well done to all who took part including the spectators! A lively post-match meal and drinks celebration was enjoyed in the clubhouse afterwards.

Handicap League Match v Crieff 23 Aug 2017

This was our final HL match of season. Unfortunately the ladies from Crieff beat us 3-2 on our home patch. Thanks to Moira L, Pat and our debutantes Fiona & Donna for turning out along with myself. It was heavy going and a bit wet from the morning downpours and we just about made it in before daylight disappeared!

Handicap League v Dunkeld 20 Aug 2017

Our handicap league team earned a creditable draw at Dunkeld today considering that we were all giving shots to the Dunkeld ladies. Well done to Alison & Moira C. for winning their games and Moira L. for halving her game. Maybe better luck next time for Dot & Michelle. At least we came away with more points than we expected.

2017 Annual Outing

Our outing this year took us to the Burntisland Ladies Greensome. Before we teed off we just about cleared the tombola table of prizes - Linda & Iris even managed to win matching golf caps.  Only Liz, Dot & Agnes were unlucky (or some might say 'lucky'!) not to win a prize. Iris did try to offload her blue 'fork handles' but they were having none of it.

Eventually we did make it to the 1st tee. Everyone enjoyed the course with some great views across the Forth. Some of us probably remember it more than others - thanks to Liz & Annette on the drinks cart.  The non-KJVI ladies some of us were playing with joined in with the frivolities too.

Alison and Moira L. ensured KJVI appeared in the main prizewinners list - Alison had the longest bronze drive and Moira was nearest the pin.

In our own comp, Moira L. and Michelle won the best nett prize, with Agnes and Pat runners up. Karen and Moira C. won the prize for nearest the pin in 2 on 18th (some ladies from other clubs thought they could compete for this too!). Pam & Sheena won the prize for Endeavour and Iris & Pat came up trumps in the Sweepy.

We finished off with a lovely meal in the clubhouse before jumping back on the bus and heading home.

Thanks to Linda for organising the day, Iris for arranging the prizes, Agnes for her macaroons & custard creams and our official photographers Liz & Annette.

Roll on next year.......
Best Nett
Nearest 18th hole in 2

Handicap League 28 June 2017

Thanks to the team of Dot, Karen, Michelle, Pam and Pat who managed a convincing 4-1 win over Auchterarder tonight. The course was playing well even after yesterday's torrential rain! Special mention for Pat who made her Handicap League debut and narrowly lost on 18th.

LADIES OPEN- TRI-AM
18 JUNE 2017

16 Teams enjoyed a glorious sunny day at our Tri-am on Sunday.  The course was in great condition and was enjoyed by all.

Pictured below are the team with the winning score of 140,  Elizabeth Anderson, Susie Williamson and Meg Laidler from Swanson, Edinburgh being presented with their prizes by Lady Captain, Alison Knight.  The winning score was 140.

In second place with a score of 141 came our very own Lady Captain, Alison with her team of Helen Clifford and Marjory Leitch from Dunning. (Unfortunately Helen and Marjory left before we were able to get a photo)

In third(also pictured) with 143 came KJVI past-captain Moira Lumby, Caroline Henderson (Aberfeldy) and Jane Yellowlees (Murrayshall).

Nearest the Pin at the 5th - Jan Rae (Auchterarder)

Nearest the White Line on 18th - Iris Robertson (King Jimmy)

Winning team from Swanson
3rd place team Caroline, Moira & Jane

4 Ball Better Ball Stableford

We'll, what a scoring night - each of the 6 pairs had under-par scores! Don't know if that's ever happened before?
The winners who came out on top were Moira & Pam with 45 pts. Runners Up were Donna & Pat with 41pts and a bih.
It was lovely to see a good turnout for a few drinks and a bit of banter in the clubhouse afterwards.

Handicap League update - We had our match against Dunning (another home game) on 27 May. Players for King Jimmy were Alison, Pam, Moira L, Dot, and Agnes. Another win with a 3-2 result. Well done ladies!

Our first away match in the HL this season saw us at Murrayshall on 4th June. The lucky team playing in glorious sunshine despite a rotten forecast was Alison, Moira L, Dot, Karen and Agnes. Sadly that was our first defeat in the league this season losing 3-2.

Handicap League 2017 - Off to a winning start

Thanks to today's King Jimmy Handicap League team - Moira L., Agnes, Alison, Michelle & Pam - who played well on a glorious sunny day to win 4 - 1 over the team from Blairgowrie. A little revenge for our loss at Blairgowrie last year to the same scoreline ! Next game is at home against Dunning on 27 May  - one player still required to  complete team.

OPENING DAY 2017

Well, we couldn't have had a better day for our Captain v. Vice Captain match.  The sun was splitting the sky - thankfully the total opposite from last year. We toasted the start of the season with a little glass of Prosecco along with a couple of homemade titbits made by Iris and Agnes.  The wonderful weather must have helped the golf as 3 of the 4 games went to the 18th green. Despite Lady Captain Alison and her partner Moira C. losing their game on 18th to the pairing of Vice Captain Michelle and Iris, her team came up trumps overall by giving the Captain's team a 2.5 to 1.5 victory. Well done Captain's Team.

PRE-SEASON GET TOGETHER

Our pre-season get together on 22 March was well attended by all the usual suspects.  It is traditionally called a 'Cheese & Wine Evening' but there definitely was no cheese and there was almost no wine!  Despite this we enjoyed our stovies provided by Paul & Mike. The Winter League prizes were handed out to the lucky winners with the fun part of the evening coming in the form of a music quiz organised by our cheeky Lady Captain Alison.  No ordinary music quiz - the songs were all No. 1's and we had to match them to our birth dates! Needless to say, most of us were hopeless.  There were even one or two who were born before No.1's were invented which made it very interesting. Another great night - thanks to Alison.

Latest news -Liz's recovery

Update from Lady Captain Alison:

After a rather unspectacular fall while skiing on holiday in France, much valued King Jimmy lady member & committee member Liz Angus has had to undergo surgery in PRI this week resulting in corrective action being taken to repair her badly damaged knee. While Liz's knee is badly damaged her other limbs remain unscathed and she has been able to send us an x-ray pic of her knee as it was after the op. Liz reported she was well looked after in PRI but is now home and will continue her long road to recovery there. Unfortunately Liz will not be golfing for the rest of this season but is keen to keep in touch with everybody as she progresses through her recovery. We send you our love Liz & wish you all the best so you are back with us asap. If David needs a pinny for all his housework, give him Dot's number 😉

Winter Walk 2017

Our Winter Walk took us on a circular route starting at Scone Racecourse, walking along the River Tay and ending up at Stormontfield where Donna's 2 dogs, Fergus and Storm greeted us with some friendly(?) barking. It was a lovely day for a walk, even though Margaret tried to leave her shoe behind in a particularly muddy section.  Help was at hand though - Anne managed to pull Margaret (and her shoe !) to safety.

Once we finished the walk, we headed to the Wheel Inn for a bite to eat.  Unfortunately, every plate of soup had to be returned to the kitchen to be heated up! At least Alison and I fared better - we didn't have the soup! We received a discount on our bill for the inconvenience, but not sure if we're keen to go back any time soon.
