LADIES OUTING TO CANMORE

The Ladies Section had a very successful outing on Monday to Canmore GC. We were looked after very well and thoroughly enjoyed the day although the golf scores left a little to be desired.

Score card made it look so easy - plenty of par 3's - what's the problem?  Maybe it was the K(r)appa balls.

Our new member Karen Brodie showed us how, picking up the Best Net prize and being one of the Hidden Team together with Dot (Dorothy) Whytock and Anne Smith.  Best team score with the Kappa  ball went to Iris Robertson, Linda Mailer and our Captain Alison Knight.  Sheena won the Endeavour Prize although to be fair she didn't try much harder than the rest of us.

There's always next year and Ladies do you think we need new sweaters?

Well done Karen

MESSAGE FROM LADIES CAPTAIN

Happy Easter Ladies

Well we managed 6 holes yesterday to get the season under way. It rained for us for the whole 6 but we were cheery throughout despite the soggy breeks & rain hat hair!! We toasted the season with a wee prosecco in the crowded locker room & a piece of tablet made by the lovely Iris, then filled the trophy with more prosecco after the Vice Captain, Michelle McKay grudgingly presented it to yours truly in the clubhouse after the game. Great fun & good banter. The score was 2-1 to the Lady Captain's team but everyone that played was a winner! Well done ladies.

Next Saturday 2 April is the First Fling. It's a fun game & our way of kicking off the Ladies season. All are welcome & again we play in teams. If you wish to play please book in asap via the online booking system as unused times are opened up to other sections mid week.

So far we have 2 ladies teams for the quiz & those that are golfing & quizzing are staying for tea after golf. There is still space for a few teams, non members are welcome! Phone the bar or the office to enter before Saturday.

Have a great season Ladies & I look forward to seeing you all at the Golf Club.

HOW POSH ARE WE?

We had our pre- season get together on Wednesday evening and combined the event with a wee celebration of Ann Arnold's 80th birthday.  Most of us hadn't seen Ann since she celebrated her birthday in the Canaries - she thought we would forget all about it!

Captain Alison and her Vice Michelle had prepared a tasting test for us.  We had to try three varieties of Prosecco and various nibbles and rate them in order of preference.  It will be no surprise to any of us that we didn't rate the most expensive Prosecco. We won't waste our hard earned cash in future. You will see us all in Aldi's this weekend.

Michelle announced the winners of the Winter League who are all now hot footing it  down to buy the cheap Prosecco with their winnings.

A great evening Alison. Looking forward to Saturday and our Opening Day.

WINTER WALK ON MURTHLY ESTATE

This year our Winter Walk took us to Murthly Estate. We were lucky with the weather and managed to get round dry. Our 6 mile route took us round the outskirts of the Estate through Kingswood across the Perth to Inverness railway line and down to the river bank which we followed back in to the main drive of the Estate. We had a slight detour up to the Chapel which has a family burial plot and the most beautiful bells which we were lucky to hear chime at mid day.

Numbers were down this year. There should have been eight of us but unfortunately Moira was injured. She did however meet us at the end of the walk and joined us for lunch at Bankfoot Visitor Centre.

A great morning Ladies. Thanks to everyone who turned up and the rest of you put it in your diary for next year.

LADIES CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES

Better late than never!! My hectic festive schedule has meant I haven't had time to update the blog.

The ladies met on the 15th December to have lunch and a few hardy souls played golf - a game of Bing, Bang, Bong which we all love because it is anybody's guess who will win!!  Alison, Dot, Michelle and Sheena competed for the special prize sourced by the Lady Captain. When Augusta hear about this I am sure the Green Jackets will be a thing of the past.

We all enjoyed a lovely lunch. Thank you Paul and Mike for looking after us  in your inimitable fashion.  Lunch was followed by a game of golf with a contraption even more difficult to handle than our conventional putters. Sheena won the prize with great skill considering most of us couldn't hit the ball in a straight line or further than a few inches. I hear some of the ladies partied well into the evening but no names no pack drill.

The dreadful weather which followed has seen the Island flooded again so I hope we can all have a smile as we remember the fun day we enjoyed and that it won't be too long until we are all back again. In the meantime watch out for details of our Winter Walk - we might need wellies!

Happy New Year.
