WINTER WALK 2015

Its Winter Walk time again. Ladies our numbers are shrinking but never mind maybe we will all shrink a little bit after our exertions today.

We started at the Wheel Inn and walked a route planned by Sheena - just over 6 miles but relatively easy walking once we got past the driving range at Murrayshall. Down the hill, along the Milk Boys Path to Gannochy and then through Quarrymill and back along the wood to the top of Scone finishing back at the Wheel Inn where we had a lovely lunch.

Our old friends Joyce Thom and Margaret Galloway joined us for lunch but we were sorry to miss Norma Bremner who has flu. Get well soon Norma.Pat has files to share with you on OneDrive. To view them, click the links below.

News from India

As you will see from the photo Memsahib Iris looks right at home in India.    She is nearly through her first week and is having  a ball. She is working hard - teaching the children with three classes a day but she has managed to find time to attend an Indian Wedding Reception.

Have fun Iris!

Ladies play in Winter Texas Scramble

Well done to 4 hardy members of our Ladies section who competed in the Texas Scramble yesterday, despite the cold wind and icy underfoot conditions. The team of Moira Lumby, Donna Nixon, Anne Smith and Margaret Watson finished with a very creditable 53.8 against a winning score of 51 - well done Ladies for coming so close. The date for the next Texas Scramble has been brought forward to Saturday 21st Feb - maybe we can raise 2 teams this time?

LADIES AGM

King James VI Ladies held their Annual General meeting on 31st October 2014 ... appropriate!  Lady Captain Moira Lumby welcomed the 17 ladies who attended with a glass of sparkling wine obviously hoping to put everyone into a mellow frame of mind.  We were especially pleased to welcome Donna our new member to her first AGM.

Moira chaired the meeting very efficiently and agreement was reached on the main points fairly painlessly. This may have been due to Moira threatening anyone who talked too much with having to wear her Witches Hat!

We were all delighted to endorse the election of our new Vice Captain, Alison Knight, who will make an excellent Lady Captain in due course.  Moira then  moved on to the presentation of prizes.  The vote of thanks was given by Fiona Farquharson the Club Champion.

Formalities over, we were able to enjoy a superb meal produced by Paul hotfoot from Amsterdam and ably assisted by Mike. Thank you Gentlemen we really enjoyed the evening.

Ladies Handicap League AGM

The AGM of the Ladies handicap League was held at King James VI GC this afternoon. The winners Dunkeld & Birnam were presented with the Loch Leven’s Larder Handicap League Trophy for the second year running. The trophy was presented by Moira Lumby co coordinator of the Handicap League. It was a very close thing with Murrayshall tying in matches but losing out in the individual games count for the second year running. King James VI Ladies came third, despite struggling with team injuries though out the year. Thanks you to Paul for providing yummy cakes and tea.

LADIES FINAL FLING

The Ladies held their Final Fling on Saturday. The format was a Texas Scramble which is always good fun. We were delighted to welcome some of the ladies who have been taking part in the coaching sessions during the Summer. Pam, Pat and Donna joined in the Texas Scramble and the newer golfers joined us for Cream Teas after their Coaching Session.

The weather was really kind to us and the course was looking at its best with the Autumn colours in their full glory.  The scores were really impressive. Even the Consolation Prize went to a team with a score below par. Well done Ladies - a good omen for next year?

Winners were Moira Lumby, Dot Whytock and Alison Knight with an impressive 63. Fiona Farquharson, Margaret Watson and Pat Hebner were runners up with 65.5.

It was really heartening to see so many ladies joining in the fun. We hope the newbees will see that we are a friendly bunch and that there is no need to feel nervous about playing with us. Playing on the Winter Course is a great way of keeping your game going over the Winter and it is fun to play - the greenkeeper shortens the holes and changes the layout.

Come and join us then maybe next year we can afford more enticing prizes.

Dot, Moira and Alison with their glittering 1st prizes.

Ladies and welcome guests enjoying apres golf!
Has Donna got one foot on her lucky tee?
